Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter Via Kathmandu
Description
Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a pilgrimage to the holy Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in the remote western regions of Tibet, China. The yatra is considered a holy and sacred journey for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bons. It is believed that taking a dip in the Mansarovar Lake and circumambulating Mount Kailash can wash away one's sins and bring salvation.
The yatra starts in June and continues until September, during which time pilgrims travel from different parts of India and other countries to reach the base camp of Mount Kailash in Tibet. The yatra includes trekking at high altitudes, crossing rough terrain and unpredictable weather conditions, which requires a high level of fitness and endurance.
The journey typically begins with a flight to Kathmandu, Nepal, followed by a drive to the border town of Nepalgunj and then to Simikot in Nepal. From Simikot, pilgrims take a helicopter ride to Hilsa, which is the nearest point to the Tibet border. After crossing the border, they take a bus or jeep ride to reach the base camp of Mount Kailash.
The yatra involves a 3-day trek around Mount Kailash, which is approximately 52 kilometers long. This trek is physically challenging, as it involves crossing high mountain passes, dealing with altitude sickness, and dealing with unpredictable weather conditions. After completing the trek, pilgrims take a dip in the holy waters of Mansarovar Lake before heading back to their respective countries.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is considered a life-changing experience, and pilgrims believe that the journey can help them achieve spiritual growth and enlightenment. However, due to the challenging terrain and weather conditions, it is also considered a risky adventure, and pilgrims are required to undertake rigorous medical check-ups before embarking on the journey.
